Dr David Liepert, President

  • Dr. David Liepert, an Anaesthesiologist with the Alberta Health services is also the founder and President of Calgary Islamic Chamber Institute. He is also the President of LoveStrong Shah, a business and media consulting company dedicated to promoting productive multi-faith and multi-community relationships. He was past-Chair of Calgary's Abraham's Tent Interfaith Dialogue group and he currently serves as VP and official spokesperson for Canada's Faith of Life Network and is a National Board member of the Canadian Islamic Chamber of Commerce. From his position on the faculty of the Canadian Centre For Deen Studies --training tomorrow's Imams today-- he advises the Canadian Imams Council regarding Interfaith matters, and he is also the author of Muslim, Christian and Jew: Finding a Path to Peace Our Faiths Can Share.

  Saima Jamal, Program Director

  • On June 1, 2013, Saima joined as the Program Director for Calgary Islamic Chamber Institute. Previously Saima held the position of Program Manager in the Consortium for Peace Studies, University of Calgary where she devoted her work to public education and promotion of research in peace-building initiatives, peace advocacy and peace activism.  She engaged students, members of the public and different community organizations toward promoting and supporting peace education in Calgary, striving to make Calgary a strong voice for global peace. She is the recipient of the 2012 Alberta Civil Liberties Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership in promoting civil liberties and human rights in Alberta. Saima holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Calgary. She is an avid program manager, event organizer and aims to dispel religious intolerance and improve racial harmony in Canada.  Shura Advisory Council

CICI aims to create an alliance of Muslim and like-minded non-Muslim business-people, professionals, trades-people and community members to promote the Islamic values of egalitarianism, pluralism, freedom and good stewardship that first united our Ummah and made our deen so attractive to everyone. To achieve these ends The Islamic Chamber founded a Shura Executive council that overlooks our Programs and Events:
